PSV Eindhoven will look to book their place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League when they face Basel in the second leg of their clash on Tuesday night. Kick-off is at 7pm BST.

PSV were staring at a first-leg defeat in Eindhoven last week but goals from Sam Lammers and Donyell Malen in the last few minutes gave the Dutch side a crucial victory.

They now head to Switzerland on Tuesday night looking to finish the job and book a third round clash with Austrian side LASK Linz.

On Saturday, PSV Eindhoven were defeated 2-0 by Ajax in the Johan Cruyff Schaal, but Mark van Bommel gave some key players a rest such as Nick Viergever, while Malen, Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutierrez only appeared from the bench.

Basel warmed up for the clash with a poor 2-1 defeat at home to St Gallen at the weekend.

Team News

Van Bommel suffered a blow at the weekend with Sam Lammers suffering an injury that will keep him out of the second leg. Ibrahim Afellay is also not in the squad despite being on the bench against Ajax. New signing Timo Baumgartl is ineligible.

Gaston Pereiro is included after his move to Spartak Moscow broke down.

Possible PSV line-up: Zoet, Dumfries, Sadilek, Viergever, Luckassen, Rosario, Gutierrez, Lozano, Bergwijn, Bruma, Malen

Marcel Koller doesn’t have any fresh injury issues ahead of the second leg and could choose the same eleven that nearly got a result last week. Ricky van Wolfswinkel should start once again.

Possible Basel line-up: Odlim, Widmer, Alvarez, Olderete, Comert, Zuffi, Frei, Xhaka, van Wolfswinkel, Ajeti

Odds

Basel 6/4 Draw 11/5 PSV 13/8

Can PSV finish the job?

Last week, Basel exploited PSV’s weakness in defence twice and almost came away with a crucial victory. Those weaknesses were exploited again by Ajax at the weekend and his back four will be a major worry for van Bommel heading into the second leg.

PSV need to keep Basel out and finish any chances that come their way. Basel needing to attack will suit PSV, though, with the speed of Malen and Bruma a huge weapon on the counter attack.
