Ajax’s Champions League campaign continues this Tuesday in London as Erik ten Hag’s side take on Chelsea. Kick-off is at 8pm.

Two weeks ago, Ajax, who had won their two opening Champions League ties, lost 1-0 to Chelsea in Amsterdam.

Erik ten Hag’s side now head to London looking for revenge and a victory that will keep them top of the table.

Looking back on the game two weeks ago, Ten Hag told the pre-game press conference what his team has to improve on, We have to do better on the ball.

“We have to be accurate, careful, that’s not easy with a good team like Chelsea with high pressing. But it is that simple. We have shown the players the images of the first game, where the spaces were for them, how to walk freely in them and which choices must then be made. But the message is the same as before the first game, we will have to be good on the ball. ”

Ajax warmed up for the tie with a 4-2 victory over PEC Zwolle last Friday which has kept them six points clear at the top of the Eredivisie. Chelsea defeated Watford 2-1 to move Frank Lampard’s side up to fourth in the Premier League.

Team News

Donny van de Beek, Edson Alvarez and Lisandro Martinez all came off against PEC Zwolle with issues on Friday but are fit and can play on Tuesday.

Ten Hag started with an attacking line-up at PEC Zwolle but he may decide to go more defensive against Chelsea with Alvarez coming in for David Neres and Hakim Ziyech going back onto the wing.

Possible Ajax line-up: Onana, Dest, Tagliafico, Blind, Veltman, Martinez, Van de Beek, Alvarez, Ziyech, Promes, Tadic

Chelsea have N’Golo Kante in their squad again after he returned from injury, while Ross Barkley has also returned to training. Both players may start on the bench.

Possible Chelsea line-up: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mount, Pulisic; Abraham

Can Ajax triumph at Stamford Bridge?

The tie in Amsterdam was a tight affair but Ajax were not at their best and Chelsea were good value for their 1-0 victory.

However, Ajax showed last year in their run to the semi-finals that they are possibly a better side away from home and they head to London with a big chance of getting a victory.

Chelsea can be hit or miss and if Ajax can keep it tight defensively and take their chances on the counter then a victory can definitely be achieved.
