According to the Metro, Van Rhijn is one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets for the January transfer window, as he searches for a new right back.
Current full back Cesar Azpilicueta has been linked with Barcelona, and if he departs, then Van Rhijn is seen as a perfect replacement.
The 22 year old Dutchman has been first choice for the Eredivisie champions since Gregory van der Wiel departed for PSG in the summer of 2012.
His excellent performances for the Amsterdam club have also seen Van Rhijn called into the Dutch national team ahead of Van der Wiel, although he is still behind Daryl Janmaat in the battle for a start.
Serie A sides Inter Milan, and Juventus have been linked with a move for Van Rhijn in the past, and the defender would cost around €7 million euros if he was to depart.
Although Ajax will be keen to keep hold of one of their star players, after losing both Christian Eriksen, and Toby Alderweireld this summer.
