Vitesse Arnhem have confirmed that Chelsea defender Matt Miazga has returned to the club on loan.

The 22-year-old American was a crucial player for Vitesse after the winter break last season, and helped the club lift their first ever trophy in the KNVB Cup final.

Vitesse have now confirmed that the centre-back has returned to Arnhem on another year loan, joining up with Fankaty Dabo, Charlie Colkett and Mason Mount, who have also been rented from Chelsea. Despite just winning the Gold Cup with the USA, Miazga will immediately join up with the Vitesse squad and will be available for the Johan Cruyff Schaal match with Feyenoord next week.

Miazga told the Vitesse website, “I felt very welcome and we have all made a historic success. That success will be expanded this coming season and I will continue to develop myself. That’s why I returned as soon as possible after winning the Gold Cup. We are going to compete for the second prize in the club’s history. “
