Van Ginkel joined Chelsea in the summer from Vitesse, but only made four appearances before suffering knee ligament damage in a Carling Cup game in September.
The 21-year-old midfielder was set to miss the rest of the season, but has made a quicker than expected recovery, and has now returned to training.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Van Ginkel revealed that he is still hoping to represent the Netherlands in Brazil this Summer at the World Cup.
He said, “The surgeon had rarely seen such a speedy recovery. Together with the fact that I was physically fit as a fiddle, this has ensured that I am now so well.
“Now I can already change direction, reverse, cut, turn and shoot. Actually, I can do anything.
“The World Cup would be a bonus, because I am only focused on my recovery. My main goal is to get fully match fit again. And if that works in the short term, you never know what can result.”
Do Dutch people really use the phrase “fit as a fiddle”? Good to see him getting near to playing again
Fantastic player its just sad he is at chelsea.
Like many many other dutch players he needs to be playing.
Robben , sneijder, huntelaar, drenthe, afelay, elia, all had problems at other teams.
