Since the Dutch legend passed away last year, there has been talks about renaming the Amsterdam Arena after Cruyff, but so far no concrete decision has been reached.

However, speaking to All Sports Radio, The Cruyff foundation director Carole Thate has revealed that there should finally be some clarity next week.

She said, “There are three parties talking to each other: Ajax, the Amsterdam ArenA and the city of Amsterdam. We are waiting for an answer to the question whether the stadium is or not going to be named after Johan Cruijff.

“We note that the talks are gaining momentum. On April 25th all parties are back speaking together, and the intention is to get out quickly.”

The date is significant with April 25th Cruyff’s birthday. He would have turned 70 this year.
