Southampton beat Feyenoord 3-0 on Thursday night with an emotional Jordy Clasie saying goodbye to De Kuip.

clasie soutClasie only sealed his move to Southampton last week, but he was back in familiar surroundings on Thursday, along with former Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman and striker Graziano Pelle, who both left the Rotterdam club last summer.

It was Pelle who opened the scoring in the first half before goals from Maya Yoshida and Juanmi sealed an easy victory for the Premier League club, against the inexperienced Feyenoord side.

After the game Clasie, who broke down in tears during the warm up, and during his official goodbye at half time said to Fox Sports, “It was obviously very special.”

“I’ve played here for fifteen years and the crowd was always fantastic. I’ve had a wonderful time in Rotterdam, but it was time for a new challenge at a nice club.”
