Following a break-out performance during the World Cup, Stefan de Vrij, who was crucial to the Netherland’s securing their first-ever third-place finish at a FIFA World Cup, has attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Feyenoord sporting director, and former Ajax midfielder, Martin van Geel, told reporters “[de Vrij] played an amazing World Cup and his contract is due to expire in one year…[i]f the right club comes along and puts in a good offer, we will definitely look at it.”

With Louis van Gaal now at the helm of Manchester United, it is believed that the Premier League side are firm favourites to land the man from South Holland. They face competition from Italian side Lazio that were monitoring de Vij before the World Cup, but had seen their approaches rejected in recent times.

The 22-year old also seems to envisage himself in a future away from Rotterdam, as he was quoted in saying: “It is pleasing to be targeted by clubs from other Leagues.”
