cocu - afellayAfellay is currently on loan at Olympiakos, where he has recently been out of the first team after a fall out with coach Michel, and there were reports that the Greek club were to return him to Barcelona. However Michel has now been sacked, which could see the Dutchman remain in Greece until the summer.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, PSV coach Phillip Cocu stated they are interested in signing the club’s former captain this summer.

Cocu said, “It makes no sense to anticipate things, but for a player like Afellay the door in Eindhoven always open,”

“I have been following the news from Greece. I feel very sorry for him. He made a good start to the season, and started returning for the Oranje.”

Afellay made 159 appearances for PSV in a seven year spell in Eindhoven before leaving for Barcelona in 2011. Since then injuries have hampered the 28-year-old’s career with the midfielder making a total of 64 appearances for Barcelona, Schalke and Olympiakos.
