Phillip Cocu has insisted he needs time to turn around Fenerbahce’s fortunes after a difficult start to his reign.

Cocu decided to depart PSV Eindhoven for Fenerbahce this summer and signed a three-year deal in Turkey. However, the pressure is already on the former midfielder after Fenerbahce excited the Champions League in the qualifiers. They have also lost two out of three in the league.

Speaking at his press conference on Wednesday, Cocu said, “I am not someone who gives up quickly.

“I am very proud that I can work here. Changes always need time. I have talked a lot about this with the directors and together we try to solve the problems we encounter. The most important thing is that we work hard to form a good team.”

Cocu is hoping for a win on Saturday when they hosts Kayserispor, “Of course we will feel much better with a good result. It is normal that you are unhappy if you do not win. If we work hard, that will be successful. This is a big club and we have a lot of quality in the selection. In difficult times we have to be together.”
