The 20-year-old took his Eredivisie goal tally to 15 in 18 games after inspiring PSV to a 3-1 win over Vitesse which moved them fifteen points ahead of Ajax. Depay scored his first with a wonderful run and finish before sending a free kick past Robbin Ruiter in a display which will once again have clubs around Europe purring.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a summer move recently, while Juventus, PSG, and Real Madrid are all credited with interest, and Phillip Cocu admitted his star man is ready to make a step up.
Cocu told media, “It’s simple: Memphis is a very important player for us.”
“He is involved in almost every dangerous situation. I think he has learned a lot and it still does. But he has the qualities to go a step higher, that much is clear. ”
Depay recently signed a new deal in Eindhoven until 2018, and PSV stated in January that they would reject bids of €30 million for their star.
