Phillip Cocu feels he has full support from the Fenerbahce board despite a difficult start to the campaign.

Fenerbahce currently sit 14th in the Turkish Super Lig and the local press was convinced that Cocu would be sacked after their 3-0 defeat to Rizespor at the weekend.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Cocu stated that he feels full support from the club, “It is a delicate situation we are in now.

“We are doing everything we can to get out of this with the chairman and the technical director. Do I still feel the support? Yes.”

Cocu understands the fierce criticism he has received, ‘People are not used to a seasonal start. Then you can talk about all sorts of causes, but the fans want success to come back quickly to the club. If that does not happen, you will get resistors, also from the media. That is not weird. It’s healthy for a big club. ”

He added that the club is currently going through a lot of changes behind the scenes, “In the team, in the supervision, in the way of working; it is difficult to get a fixed structure there. But I focus on football as much as possible. That is difficult, it is fighting instead of playing football. ”

The Turkish media stated that Fenerbahce’s chairman asked Cocu to resign on Monday, but the former PSV boss has dismissed that, “He certainly did not ask that. A lot is being written, the newspapers also have to be filled.”
