toivonen dToivonen’s contract is up in the summer, and although he has been offered a new deal, the player is still refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The Swedish international is reportedly unhappy with the amount of money offered by the club, who state they will not blow their salary keep any player.

Now Phillip Cocu has demanded clarity on his stars future, and is threatening to drop Toivonen into the reserves if he does not make up his mind by the end of the week. This is the second time Cocu has threatened Toivonen with a drop to the Eerste Divisie after making the same remark in the summer.

If no deal is agreed a transfer in January is the most likely scenario, with Newcastle United, Fiorentina, and Norwich City all said to be interested in a cut price deal.

In recent weeks Toivonen has been a regular in PSV’s starting eleven, even keeping out their big summer signing Adam Maher, much to the annoyance of the former AZ Alkmaar star, who vented his frustration on Twitter.
