On Thursday news broke that Brighton had agreed a fee with PSV for Locadia, believed to be around €16 million.

Speaking in his press conference before Sunday’s tie with Heracles, Cocu stated that he was not happy to lose Locadia, but understands the decision because of the club’s finances.

Cocu said, ”We must have understanding for the financial situation that PSV Eindhoven are in and the reasons why potential transfers may take place.

”In a sporting sense I am not happy because at the beginning of the season I spoke about Jurgen Locadia’s qualities and they remain the same.

”The most important thing is to have a balanced squad. At the start of the season we looked at potential positions in terms of recruitment and what would be feasible in terms of contracting new players.

”If we receive a fee for a transfer it does not mean that we will be able to immediately invest that money. But it does mean that we will have more of a choice between a potential loan deal or buying a player.

”We will see what happens before the end of the transfer window.”

PSV are not expected to be signing a replacement for Locadia with Maximiliano Romero joining earlier in the window.
