Fenerbahce has confirmed that Phillip Cocu has been sacked after another defeat on Sunday evening.

Earlier this evening, Fenerbahce lost 3-1 at home to Ankaragücü which left them down in 15th spot in the Turkish Super Lig. Around half-an-hour after the loss, Fenerbahce came with an official statement that Cocu had been sacked.

The 47-year-old decided to leave PSV in the summer to take over at the Turkish giants after he was wooed by new Fenerbahçe chairman Ali Koç. However, the appointment has been a disaster for Cocu and the club.

An early exit from the Champions League was followed up by a series of poor results in the league. Cocu only won four out of sixteen official matches since taking charge.
