It was a mixed bag for the two Dutch sides playing in the Conference League on Thursday night.

FC Twente 0-1 Qarabag
FC Twente face an uphill task to stay in Europe after a poor defeat against Qarabag.
The hosts began the game brightly but faded as the half wore on and chances were few and far between. Qarabag took control going into the second half and the post denied Kady Borges.
Borges would eventually make it 1-0 for Qarabag when the ball fell to his feet in the box and he remained calm to net.
Twente went looking for an equaliser but Bart van Rooij’s saved effort was the closest they came before the end.
Next week, Twente travels to Azerbaijan looking to remain in Europe.
Sion 2-4 Ajax
Ajax look well placed to continue in the Conference League after a victory over Sion.
Sion had the better of the first half and they hit the post before Franck Surdez did eventually make it 1-0 before the break.
Eight minutes into the second half, Julian Brandt equalised for Ajax with a strike into the top corner. Marcos Leonardo then headed Ajax in front shortly afterwards.
Ilyas Chouaref scored a penalty for the hosts to level the scores but substitute Tolu Arokodare headed Ajax back in front before Davy Klaassen added a fourth before the end.
Ajax now takes a healthy lead back to Amsterdam next week.
