Tim Krul went on to save two of the five penalties against Costa Rica in Salvador on Saturday, which booked Netherlands a spot in the semi-finals.
This is what former Dutch forward told De Telegraaf,
“I had a feeling when the three substitutions were not made in the 120 minutes that it may happen.”
“One reason it could have happened is because Costa Rica against Greece had taken five brilliant penalties. With two hours in the legs football players are susceptible to this kind of psychological tricks. I sat down on the couch and really enjoyed it.
“I found it beautiful. These are things that I love. It’s not about whether Cillessen or Krul is better, as long as the other party thinks there is a world class keeper comes on the field. ”
Netherlands now take on Argentina in the semifinals on 9th July in Sao Paolo.
