The Belgian striker joined Utrecht from NAC Breda and has the task of replacing Sebastien Haller, who left for Eintracht Frankfurt. Speaking to NOS, Dessers stated his intentions to score goals and become loved by the Utrecht fans.
Dessers said, ”I am a different striker to Sebastien Haller. He did an amazing job during his time at FC Utrecht and I hope to emulate what he has done which is to score many goals and become loved by the supporters.
”I have confidence in my new teammates and I have a great team behind me. I admit that it is a step from a Jupiler League team to an Eredivisie team that finished 4th and one that will play European football too but during my time in Belgium I played in the top division and also in Europe too. I am aware of the tempo and I have shown that I can manage at that level.
“My teammates are open and friendly and everyone wants to help one another. I am looking forward to the season ahead. Our pre-season is shortened due to the Europa League qualifying rounds but we must be ready.”
