Utrecht were held to a 1-1 draw by ADO Den Haag after Adrián Dalmau’s dramatic second half cameo.

Rene Hake was hoping Sunday’s match would be his first victory since taking over at Utrecht, while ADO Den Haag lined up with Ricardo Kishna in the starting eleven after his return from injury last week.

Utrecht were the better side in the first half but the closest they came was a Mimoun Mahi lob that was easily saved by Luuk Koopmans.

At the break, Hake decided to bring on Dalmau for some extra firepower. Three minutes into the second half, Utrecht did have the lead but it was Justin Hoogma who finished from close range.

Then Dalmau made his mark on the game with two yellow cards in the space of ten minutes to reduce Utrecht to ten men.

Utrecht tried to defend their lead but with five minutes to go, Michiel Kramer found the equaliser to earn ADO Den Haag a point.

Utrecht are ninth in the table, while ADO Den Haag sits 17th.
