Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld could make his Netherlands debut over the next week and he is determined to ensure that his first call-up will not be a one-off.

The 21-year-old has had an excellent start to the season with Club Brugge, contributing five goals and four assists in fourteen official games. This form has led to Danjuma’s first Netherlands call-up for the upcoming ties with Germany and Belgium.

Speaking to OnsOranje on his arrival with the national team, Danjuma said, “It’s fine with the nerves. I am someone who always seeks new challenges and that is a great example. I hope that I do not just come here once, I do not want to be a one-day-fly. I come here to prove myself and hopefully that means that I can come more often.

“Of course I hope to make a debut. They are very nice matches against Germany and Belgium, beautiful countries to play against. Coincidentally there are two players from Club Brugge who have been called up for Belgium, so that makes it extra nice for me.”

Danjuma was playing in the Eerste Divisie last season but is now set to be a Netherlands international. Asked about the secret to his success, he responded, “I do not really have a secret. It is mainly a matter of self-confidence. I have done my best every day and am happy with the result. I often hear that it goes very fast, but I do not really think about it myself. It is normal for me, as a child you want to end up here eventually.”
