Damil Dankerlui has spoken of his delight after leaving Ajax to sign for Willem II.

The left-back has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal in Tilburg and will now get the chance to make his Eredivisie debut.
Dankerlui said on the Willem II website, ”At Willem II I am a step closer to playing regular Eredivisie games and that is the level that you want to play at as a footballer in the Netherlands.”
The 21-yeaqr-old will wear number 34 at his new club, and he gave his reasons why, ”I have chosen squad number 34 which was the number of my former Ajax teammate Abdelhak Nouri wore.
”Appie is a good friend of mine. We trained, ate and laughed together at Ajax. It was very emotional what happened to him last summer.
”By chosing squad number 34 I want to show that my thoughts are with Appie and his family.”
Dankerlui came through the Ajax youth academy in 2011 and made a total of 82 appearances for Ajax in the Jupiler League but never made an appearance for the first team.
