Blind said, ”I freely admit that 85 percent of the players that I have selected are in good form. Memphis Depay is not included I have spoke with him and in his case it is important from him to concentrate fully on Manchester United in terms of being included in the match day squad and from then on to play regularly and then he will come under consideration again for the national team again because we have upcoming internationals in October too.

”Klaas Jan Huntelaar is also not included due to the fact that I made a choice of selecting 4 strikers and in the case of Vincent Janssen he made a good transfer to Tottenham Hotspur which is interesting and the margins between our strikers are very small. I spoke to Klaas Jan and I can understand the disappointment of not being selected but he also admitted to not wishing to be the 3rd striker. But he remains in contention so long as he continues to play for Schalke 04 and remains fit.

Blind spoke about Dick Advocaat leaving his position as assistant coach to join Fenerbahce, ”I was disappointed when I heard the news that Dick Advocaat left and also a little bit angry but primarily my focus is on the squad meeting up on Monday. The most important is the technical staff helping the players to get the best out of themselves in the upcoming qualifying campaign. Ruud Gullit will not be joining us due to not reaching an agreement with the KNVB. My focus is mainly on our first qualifying game against Sweden.
