The World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg is a must win game for Oranje, who currently sit third in their qualifying group.
Speaking at his pre-game press conference, Blind said on his tactics for the match, ”I expect that we will show attacking intent from the offset against Luxembourg. I have tweaked our formation to adhere to those tactics. We will play a 4-3-3 formation and our midfielders will be attack-minded.”
The pitch in Luxembourg has been criticised in the run up to the game, but it isn’t an issue for Blind, ”Of course we would prefer a perfect pitch and therefore you need less concentration in order to receive and control the ball properly. We must not use this as an excuse and we must deal with the situation.”
Blind then spoke about the return of captain Arjen Robben,”Arjen Robben is a fantastic player who plays for a great club. He has showed recently for Bayern Munich after being out for a long time what a fantastic player he can be. Such a great player is always welcome in our squad, It is not only Arjen Robben. We are a team and he is an important part of it as well as being captain.”
He’s still stuck on the 4-3-3…
woow! what an attack Mr. Blind! I felt that the Luxembourg team is like Spain or Germany. You need to quit to let the oranje qualify to WC.
Is it not what all this while we are supposed to play like that? what’s the big deal in telling people something that is allready expected from oranje style of play. It is just a physological words in the pre-match talk.
