The 35-year-old former Groningen player takes over the club from Ernest Faber who left at the end of the season.

Buijs said, ”The objective if for us to get into contention to qualify for the play-offs for Europe and I share that vision of winning the play-offs in order to qualify for Europe.

”For me working in the Eredivisie means having a full set of professional people around me that all have specific qualities. There will also be a lot more attention surrounding me at the club.

”We must believe that we can do well with the players and staff that we have but we must also have the quality too.

”We can have a lot of ideas regarding my new challenge but it’s about the players we have and what is the best system and approach for the players. That is the best way to get results. ”
