In an interview with De Telegraaf, De Boer said he knows most of the names in his squad should they all stay fit.
De Boer also believes he has some difficult choices to make, “We have a lot of young players who play at a high level and knock on the door. They just can’t all come along.
“Guys like Donyell Malen, Steven Bergwijn, Calvin Stengs, Owen Wijndal and Teun Koopmeiners are already in the squad. Mohamed Ihattaren, who I think is a great player in the future, I have selected and then we will also hear from Ryan Gravenberch, Sven Botman, Cody Gakpo, Mitchel Bakker and Justin Kluivert.”
De Boer is also keeping an eye on Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten, “He is doing very well in Serie A. I regularly see clips of him from my assistant Maarten Stekelenburg.”
De Boer also commented again on the importance of Ryan Babel, “We know what we can do with Babel. He has to prove himself at Galatasaray. Provided he is fit, then he is of added value for Oranje. He can play striker, on the outside, is also important outside the field and is not in the players’ council for nothing.”
Thrilled for Koopmeiners think this season he has made himself so hard not to call up even with all the mid depth. 17 goal involvements yes good bit Pens but some screamers FKs & good assists really added more end product & always thought was underrated. Or of need him at CB ok further up OK & he will be a huge loss for AZ if a club comes in January for him but sure they will in summer. Reading €10m which would be an absolute bargain for a 22yo technical footballer you can put almost anywhere & will do a job for you.
