Netherlands boss Frank de Boer was happy with his side after their 3-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

De Boer had to wait until his fifth match in charge of Oranje to record his first victory. His side was too strong for Bosnia and Herzegovina and recorded a 3-1 victory.

After the game, De Boer spoke with NOS, “We used a fast pace and had a lot of energy. We had depth behind the last line and played well between the lines. They had a lot of trouble with that. We have indicated that in advance as staff: Especially the first 20 to 25 minutes full throttle and try to make the difference with a high pressing pace. They did a fantastic job.”

Asked why it had not worked in his first four games in charge, De Boer responded, “If I knew that, I would probably be the best trainer in the world.”

De Boer also saw room for improvement, “We didn’t reward ourselves for finishing the chances and we also gave away a number of half chances ourselves. That must be better.”

De Boer was happy with Memphis Depay’s performance, “You can see that he feels good about himself. I know he can play well as a left winger or as a striker. He is multifunctional.”
