According to various reports on Thursday morning, Frank de Boer is set to be appointed as the new Netherlands head coach.

De Telegraaf reported on Wednesday that the KNVB would hold talks with the former defender to replace Ronald Koeman.

Voetbal International and NOS have also confirmed that De Boer is the prime candidate, and that talks are planned with the KNVB that will likely end with him becoming the new head coach.

The KNVB wants a new head coach to be in place for the next international match against Mexico on the 7th of October.

De Boer has been out of work since being sacked by Atlanta United earlier this year. He has previously worked with Ajax, Inter Milan and Crystal Palace. De Boer was previously the assistant to Bert van Marwijk with the Dutch national team.
