De Graafschap’s first home match back in the Eredivisie ended in a 3-0 defeat as PEC Zwolle proved too strong for the Superboeren.

Both sides were looking to make amends after poor results during round one last week with De Graafschap going down 3-1 to Heerenveen, while PEC Zwolle let a two goal lead slip against Cambuur in a 2-2 draw.
However the harsh rain in Doetinchem made the first half difficult for both sides, with chances few and far between, although Bannink should have done better with a shot which was straight at PEC Zwolle goalkeeper Kevin Begois.
The home side’s resistance was broken by PEC Zwolle on 50 minutes as Sheraldo Becker’s cross was met by Wouter Marinus, who slotted in from close range, and ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Bart van Hintum slammed the ball into the bottom corner from just outside the box.
A lack of communication in the De Graafschap defence then led to PEC Zwolle’s 3rd on 66 minutes as Becker raced onto a sloppy backpass by Bouma before beating Jarjus and slotting into an empty net. It could have been worse for the home side near the end, but Lars Veldwijk’s goal was ruled out.
Two defeats in two for De Graafschap, who will also be sweating over the fitness of key midfielder Dean Koolhof, who was stretchered off in the first half. PEC Zwolle with their first win of the season go temporarily top before the rest of the weekend’s action.
