Ten-man De Graafschap rescued a point against FC Twente after a late goal earned them a 1-1 draw.

grrraaa tweDespite being second bottom, De Graafschap have only lost one game at home this year, and in tough conditions, they were favourites against FC Twente. However, just after the half hour mark, Twente led as Jerson Cabral cut in from the right before unleashing a lovely strike into the bottom corner from distance.

On 61 minutes the task got harder for De Graafschap when Jeroen Tesselaar was shown a straight red card for a nasty lunge on Hakim Ziyech, which easily could have damaged the midfielder’s ankle.

With a man advantage, Twente looked for a killer second goal, but Oskar Zewada was unlucky to see an effort come back off the post.

The failure to finish the game came back to haunt Twente with three minutes to go as Piotr Parzyszek’s snap shot on the edge of the box evaded Nick Marsman’s hand and nestled into the bottom corner.

The point sees De Graafschap move two points clear of bottom side Cambuur while Twente sit 13th.
