A single goal from striker Vincent Vermeij has sent De Graafschap up to the Eredivisie at the expense of Volendam.

de graafschap upvoDe Graafschap should have been ahead going into the second leg after dominating the first tie midweek, but they failed to take their chances, and it was a similar case on Sunday for Volendam.

The home team dominated from the start, with Kevin Brands coming close twice, while Kevin van Kippersluis also fired wide. On 30 minutes Bradley Kuwas squandered Volendam’s clearest chance of the game firing into the side netting, and a minute later De Graafschap had the lead with Vincent Vermeij stabbing the ball into the net from close range.

Volendam pushed for the equaliser after the break, but Kuwas saw an excellent free kick saved by Hidde Jurjus, who also denied Brands, and saw a header from Van Kippersluit fly wide.

De Graafschap held on for the win and the Superboeren are back in the Eredivisie for the first time since 2012.
