Bayern Munich are into the semi-finals of the Champions League after they hammered Barcelona 8-2 in Lisbon.

After seeing off Napoli, Barcelona faced Bayern Munich with Frenkie de Jong retaining his place in the midfield. Ludovit Reis was once again on the bench, while Joshua Zirkzee was a substitute for Bayern Munich.

The game got off to a fast start with Thomas Muller firing Bayern Munich ahead, but Barcelona equalised quickly through a David Alaba own goal.

Barcelona came close to taking the lead but in the 21st minute, Ivan Perisic made it 2-1 and from that point Bayern Munich ran rampant. Serge Gnabry and Muller again quickly made it 4-1 by half-time.

Luis Suarez pulled one back for Barcelona in the 57th minute, but that proved to be nothing but a consolation as Bayern Munich went on to humiliate the Spanish giants.

Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski made it 6-1 before Philippe Coutinho, who is on loan at the club from Barcelona, rubbed salt into the wounds with a late double to make it 8-2 at full time.

Frenkie de Jong played the full game but had an evening to forget, while Reis and Zirkzee remained on the bench. Bayern Munich will now go on to face the winner of Manchester City against Lyon.

For Barcelona, the pressure now increases on Quique Setien, who also missed out on the La Liga title.
