The 22-year-old made his final appearance for Ajax in their 4-1 win at De Graafschap, which sealed the Eredivisie title.
Speaking to Fox Sports after the game, De Jong said, “I am going to miss the Eredivisie, I had a good time here. It is very unfortunate that I am leaving, we really have a unique team here for Dutch standards. We have experienced a lot and had a lot of fun together, I will miss that. “
However, De Jong cannot wait to get started at Barcelona and is particularly excited about seeing Lionel Messi in action, “I’m not sorry, because I’m really looking forward to my new club. I am very curious how I will do it at Barcelona.
“I am particularly curious about Lionel Messi, which I am most looking forward to. How he is at the training, what I can learn from him. It would be great if I get a click with him. I just have to play a lot of balls at him, haha.
“It would be great if I immediately get a click with the players at Barcelona. It is always nice if you do it right right from the start. You are judged on that by your fellow players.”
On celebrating the title, De Jong revealed he won’t be going too crazy, “I’m not such a beer drinker, but maybe I’ll take one.”
