The 23 year old had two tough seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach, while the last six months of which were spent at Premier League’s Newcastle United.
This is what the former Twente man had to say,
“The first year was difficult because of my injury. It’s definitely not easy when you relocate to a bigger league. In my second season I did not get any starts. Unfortunately, it did not become what I had imagined. But you do not know what would have happened if I had not made the move.”
On the fact of him being labeled as a bad buy in Germany, de Jong had this to say,
“There are always people who talk bad about you. It’s a shame I could not show what my qualities are. I hope I ever again get the chance to show that I am not a flop”
He has to improve his work rate. He plays too lazy. He needs to find open space and learn how to hold up the ball.
