Frenkie de Jong has missed Ajax’s last two matches but he is fit enough to play in Netherlands clash this weekend.

The midfielder missed Ajax’s draw with Bayern Munich last week and the 5-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie. However, De Jong was named in Netherlands squad for the UEFA Nations League clash with Germany.

Speaking to NOS, De Jong said,  “I am fit to play.

“Of course it will never be nice if you miss two matches and against AZ I could have played last Sunday, but we decided not to take any risks.”

De Jong has much hype surrounding him but he is trying to shut out all the weight of expectations, “Other people have to judge whether I stay on the ground with both feet, I do not follow talk shows on purpose anymore, but you can not get around some things, I’m definitely not looking for it, but it’s not that I do not read . ”

The 21-year-old has been called the “Savior of Dutch football” by some but he isn’t interested in that tag, “That is all very exaggerated, that is certainly not the case, I am not even a full-fledged basic player in the Dutch national team. I do not care much about that.”
