The Dutch striker has barely featured for his Bundesliga side this season, and has lost his place in the national team with the World Cup closing in.
Newcastle United have been heavily linked with interest in the 23-year-old, while a return to the Eredivise with champions Ajax has also been suggested.
Speaking to Voetbal International, De Jong has today stated that he will evaluate all his options in January, with a move to Ajax seemingly not on his mind.
He said, “I currently play very little, but in football things can change quickly. I have not spoken with anyone from Borussia Mönchengladbach about my future.”
“Ajax? I have so often heard. At the moment I am not concerned with other clubs. I will deliberate what is best in the winter. The difference between the Eredivisie and the Bundesliga is very large, so it would be a step backwards.”
De Jong has only featured eight times from the bench so far this season, totaling 67 minutes, and scoring no goals.
