According to Sport, Barcelona has made the signing of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong a priority for next summer.

The Spanish newspaper is reporting that there is a “Unanimous agreement” inside of Barcelona that De Jong must be signed. Pep Segura, Eric Abidal, Ramon Planes, Ernesto Valverde and the rest of the scouts have given the deal a green light.

Barcelona tried to sign the 21-year-old this summer but their bid of around €30 million was deemed far too low by Ajax director Marc Overmars, who reportedly values De Jong at €75 million.

A deal in January has been ruled out by Overmars but Barcelona are set to return in the summer in a bid to get their man ahead of interested clubs such as Tottenham, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sport, former technical secretary of Barcelona, Robert Fernandez, said before he left the club, “Barça can make mistakes, but De Jong cannot escape them,”
