The 23 year old joined the Magpies in January this year after initially snubbing their advances to join Gladbach back in 2012. However the former FC Twente man had a miserable time at Borussia Park and found himself well down the pecking order.
The striker has now told the Daily Mirror that he is desperate to impress the Newcastle bosses and earn a permanent stay on Tyneside.
De Jong said,“I would like to be important for this team, in terms of goals and assists, and work hard. I’m on loan with an option to stay and I would like to go on with this option if it is possible.” “Of course I would like to try to impress enough to stay.”
It has been revealed in certain media quarters that the Premier league club will have to shell out 8 million pounds to land the seven times capped Dutch international.
For all his best intentions, I haven’t seen anything that impresses me about Luuk. Not really quick, not much power. Why was Best sold for 1 mil, he was a great penatly box poacher/striker.
