ajafey hfhPSV Eindhoven’s win over Cambuur on Saturday opened up a seven point gap on Ajax and the pressure was on the champions to beat their fierce rivals, but from the start it was Feyenoord who took control.

Jordy Clasie took command of the midfield, and they attacked a nervous looking Ajax with Colin Kazim Richards forcing Jasper Cillessen into an early save, while Terence Kongolo sent a header over the bar.

On 20 minutes Feyenoord were presented with an excellent chance when Arkaduisz Milik accidentally diverted the ball into the path of Kazim Richard in the box, but Cillessen stood tall to divert the forwards shot to safety.

Ajax couldn’t get a foothold in the game and constantly gave possession away to Feyenoord, who should have been ahead at the break but Milik somehow headed Jean Paul Boetius’s goal bound shot off the line.

After the break Feyenoord continued to dominate possession without really troubling Ajax, who had their first real chance on 69 minutes when Ricardo van Rhijn’s cross just missed Kolbeinn Sigthorsson before Kenneth Vermeer clawed the ball away.

Vermeer was called into action again to deny Kishna, but it was Feyenoord who squandered the best chance to seal the three points as Boetius headed towards goal from close range, but the ball was blocked on the line by teammate Kazim Richards. The last ten minutes were end to end but the game teetered out to a draw,

Ajax now find themselves six points behind PSV, while Feyenoord are 14 points off the top spot.
