Ajax are currently in Portugal preparing for the second half of the season under new head coach Erik ten Hag, who replaced Marcel Keizer at the helm.

De Ligt said on his new boss,  ”Everybody has a new start under Erik Ten Hag with a new football vision and opinions and as a squad that can only be good for us in order to continue development in the future.

”The training is different under Erik Ten Hag with a lot of focus on tactical elements and positional play and it is really instructive.

”I want to become even more consistent and develop my skills under our new manager Erik Ten Hag.

”I believe we still have a big chance of catching PSV Eindhoven and becoming champions this season.”

The defender also stated the squad are still thinking about Abdelhak Nouri, ”As a squad we still have Appie Nouri in our thoughts. It was very difficult, especially in the beginning. We must remain professional.”
