Matthijs de Ligt suffered a groin injury as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night.

De Ligt was in the starting line-up for Bayern, while Ryan Gravenberch had to settle for a place on the bench. Donyell Malen started for Dortmund.

Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane scored to put Bayern 2-0 up before De Ligt had to go off injured in the 62nd minute. Without De Ligt, Bayern conceded twice as Youssoufa Moukoko and Anthony Modeste earned Dortmund a draw.

After the game, De Ligt told Viaplay on his groin injury, “I felt it in the first half, after 25 minutes. Then I played on and around the 55th minute I noticed that I could deliver less power than usual. Then I was substituted.”

De Ligt doesn’t know how serious it could be, “The scan will show that tomorrow. I hope it’s not serious, of course. There’s a very tough schedule coming up. Extra caution and smarts are needed now.”
