According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have set their sights fully on Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt as they look to strengthen their defence.

The Spanish giants are on the lookout for a new centre-back and were initially targeting Red Bull Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano but the German club’s asking price for the 18-year-old is reportedly too steep.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have now set their sights on Matthijs de Ligt, with the Ajax youngster seen as a cheaper alternative, who fits the club’s style. The 18-year-0ld
The 18-year-0ld is also a target for Borussia Dortmund with Bild reporting on Wednesday that Peter Bosz is hoping to be reunited with De Ligt, who he handed his debut with Ajax. A fee of between €25-30 million is mentioned, but any deal would have to be next summer as De Ligt wants to remain in Amsterdam for the rest of this season.
