According to De Telegraaf, Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt is set to choose Juventus, who expect the Dutch international to sign a five-year deal.

The battle to sign De Ligt has been rumbling on for weeks with PSG reportedly the frontrunners with the player’s girlfriend even viewing properties in Paris.

However, a few weeks ago, Italian press reported that Juventus were still in the running with Pavel Nedved hoping to use his great relationship with Mino Raiola to seal a deal.

De Telegraaf are now reporting that Juventus expect De Ligt to join the club shortly with the 19-year-old set to sign a five-year deal. He would earn €15-20 million while Ajax will receive a fee of over €70 million for the centre-back.

The Dutch newspaper says this is a deal that De Ligt surely can’t refuse but add that PSG cannot be ruled out until an official agreement is made.

De Ligt would join up with Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin. The forward was pictured asking De Ligt to join Juventus after Portugal’s 1-0 win over Netherlands in the Nations League final.

De Ligt is currently on holiday and is expected to announce his future on his return.
