Ajax were confident that the 18-year-old, who was named the Eredivisie talent of the year on Tuesday, would remain in Amsterdam past this summer despite interest from several major clubs.

However, Raiola has recently become the youngster’s adviser and he has indicated to the Ajax management that De Ligt wants a move. It is a big blow for Ajax, who had counted on the defender to be a leader at the club next summer, especially with a number of other players looking to leave.

De Ligt has a contract in Amsterdam until 2021 and any move wont be cheap for the interested parties. Tottenham, Manchester City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are just some of the clubs linked with the centre-back.
