PSV may be losing its most prized asset after 20 year-old Memphis Depay, who showed himself to the world in Brazil this summer refused to sign a new contract until the transfer window closes. Depay is concerned over PSV’s transfer interests, and is waiting to see if the club add extra experience to their young squad before committing. In the meantime the Dutch international is open to listening to offers from other clubs.
It was originally thought both Tottenham and Manchester United were interested in the winger, however, recently it has been reported that Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal, who gave Depay his international debut as coach of the Netherlands, instructed Depay to snub Tottenham and wait for an offer from United next summer.
It looks like Van Gaal’s lack of commitment to the winger may not be enough, and his move to the premier league may be imminent. So far Depay has scored four goals in two games for PSV in the Eredivisie, and with the winger already contracted in Eindhoven until 2017, he will not come cheap.
Despite warnings from Dutch icons like Ruud Guillit and Louis Van Gaal that Depay would benefit from one more year of development in the Eredivisie, Depay seems ready to spread his wings on a larger stage.
Don’t be stupid like Babel. Babel had more upside than Depay did and was benched by Liverpool and it obstructed his development and confidence and he never reached the next level the so-called next Henry never came and Castaignos was projected the same and he left too early and is still trying to get his confidence back. If he can score over 20 goals while at PSV this year his confidence will skyrocket and then better doors will be open. Be smart and think long term or you’ll end up as a prospect that never reached full potential.
In case you don’t believe me ask Marco Van Ginkel or even Afellay. Marco wrecked his knee and 2nd year later he is still not in Chelsea’s plans. If he stayed and developed more physically and mentally at home and left at 23 or 24 he would have been far better. But by trying to impress at a higher level both physically and mentally behind he pushed too hard to try and make the 1st squad and it was a HUGE ERROR. Right Vitesse? As for Afellay, going to Barca when they were emerging as the best side in Europe was huge risk and again INJURED by trying to hard to impress. When you already have the confidence and skill set all you do is play your game if you are not ready you will fail miserably. It happens to often right Drenthe? Should I say more?
