Louis Van Gaal hinted that in order to fill the gap left by the injured Kevin Strootman, he may have to change his signature formation at this summer’s World Cup.

In an interview with NU.nl today, Val Gaal admitted that Strootman brings a balance to the team that no other player can fill. This may lead to Van Gaal changing his 4-3-3 formation that Oranje has always played under him.
Van Gaal said, “Strootman is a player who creates balance in a team. But Strootman falls through injury and there is no one who can replace him,”
Van Gaal also said that, while the media has dampened the expectations this summer, he has hope for a strong campaign. He stresses that above all, his players must be fit and in form to even hope for a spot on his team.
He added, “If we are all fit, we certainly have a chance to do more than just get through the group stage.”
