With FC Utrecht and Ajax eliminated in the Europa League on Thursday, that leaves Vitesse Arnhem as only representative in the Europa League and Feyenoord in the Champions League. Advocaat stated that he does not believe a lack of Dutch representation in Europe will be detrimental to the national team.

Advocaat said, ”It’s a massive shame for Dutch football and in particular the young players that we have because international football is very important and often decisive.

”The fact remains that there are not many Dutch teams in Europe this season and there are reasons behind that.

”I do not believe that a lack of European representation will be detrimental to the national team.

”I must say that when players report for international duty they are always in good spirits and they are aware of the interests and goals we have set.”
