Speaking in the pre-game press conference, Kuyt stated he is confident of Feyenoord’s chances on Thursday, “I believe that Feyenoord at the moment is a team that has a lot of confidence due to our form in the league and also beating Manchester United and we approach all our games with the intention to win.

“If we manage to avoid defeat to Fenerbahce then I would view that as a positive result but we must go for the win. Feyenoord last played European football 2 seasons ago and in Europe experience is very important. Our squad does not have a lot of experience and tomorrow they will play in an intimidating atmosphere where the fans are fully behind their team and we have to react to that.

“We have already dealt with those types of situations playing Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven this season and on the basis of those games I have full confidence against Fenerbahce.”
