kuyt fffFeyenoord ran out 4-1 winners on Saturday evening, but the Rotterdam club had to come back from a goal down, with Kuyt leading the charge with two excellent goals before Berghuis and Toornstra settled the match.

After the game, Kuyt spoke to the NOS and stated that he feels that the club have set their standards higher this season, ”Scoring goals remains a fantastic feeling and also to score at an important time in the match just before half time to make it 1-1. I must say that as a team at this moment in time we are complete and we have many good players such as Berghuis, Kramer, Jorgensen.

”I have been subbed a lot recently so it is nice to play the full 90 minutes and if you score 2 goals you are always on the hunt for a hat-trick. We are excellent during the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half and the supporters were fully behind us which is a great atmosphere to play football in.

”I think that we have set a higher standard this season in comparison to last season for example where we had difficulties when we went 1-0 down last season and tonight we reacted to such a situation in a way that shows we have grown.

Dirk Kuyt was also questioned about facing his old team Fernerbachce in the Europa League. ” I think it is fantastic my phone was non stop yesterday from everywhere most messages from Istanbul but also from England. I think we have a great draw with Fenerbahce & Manchester United and I can’t wait to play the games and we play against opponents where we can measure where we are as a team.

”It’s a massive shame that De Kuip capacity has been reduced for the upcoming European matches and I hope that we can find a solution to this problem in the future but at this moment in time there is no other solution”.
