Kasper Dolberg was back on the scoresheet as Ajax came away from Fortuna Sittard with a 2-0 victory.

After their 3-0 defeat at PSV Eindhoven last weekend, Ajax welcomed back Matthijs de Ligt but were without the injured Frenkie de Jong.

Ajax dominated the first half but couldn’t turn their chances into an opening goal with Carel Eiting, Dusan Tadic, and Hakim Ziyech all missing decent chances, while at the other end, Andre Onana had to make a good save to deny Ahmed El Messaoudi/

Erik ten Hag swapped Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for Kasper Dolberg at the break and two minutes into the second half the Dane made an instant impact. Tadic found the striker’s fine run and he fired flawlessly past Koselev,

Eiting missed a good chance for a second and Ajax started wavering with Onana forced into a great save to deny André Vidigal as Fortuna grew in confidence. In the 78th minute, Ziyech ensured Ajax’s victory, racing onto Donny van de Beek’s headed pass before slotting the ball through Koselev’s legs.

The Ajax victory means they remain five points behind PSV and head into the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in midweek with some confidence.
