de vrij asdSerie A side Lazio seemed certain to wrap up a deal for De Vrij, after apparently agreeing an €8 million fee for the 22-year-old, with only the matter of how the money will be paid to Feyenoord standing in the way of the move being completed.

However Italian newspaper La Repubblica are reporting that Feyenoord have put the deal on hold after German side Borussia Dortmund entered the race. The Bundesliga giants have not yet made an official bid, but with Mats Hummels rumoured to be leaving this summer, De Vrij could be the perfect replacement.

De Vrij himself would not be drawn into speaking about any move today, with the defender concentrating on Netherlands friendly with Ghana this Saturday.

He told ANP, “I dont want to say anything about that. I’m here for the Oranje now and not for Feyenoord.”

“Just ask the coach. I focus entirely on the World Cup,”
